Volvo has launched the EX90 in India at an introductory price of ₹1.26 crore (ex-showroom). It's the brand's new flagship here, sitting above the petrol-hybrid XC90, and it comes in a single fully loaded six-seat version. Bookings are open now, and deliveries start in January 2027.
That price is lower than many expected. Pre-launch talk had pegged the EX90 closer to ₹1.4 crore, and Volvo has instead slotted it just under its two most obvious rivals.
The India-spec EX90 gets a 106 kWh battery and a motor on each axle for all-wheel drive. Combined output is 456 hp and 670 Nm, enough for a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds. That's quick for a three-row SUV that weighs as much as this one does.
The claimed WLTP range is 625 km. Real-world numbers in Indian conditions will be lower, as they are for every EV, but even with a healthy margin that's comfortably a Mumbai–Pune–Mumbai run with charge to spare.
| Spec | Volvo EX90 (India) |
|---|---|
| Price (ex-showroom) | ₹1.26 crore (introductory) |
| Battery | 106 kWh |
| Drive | Dual motor, AWD |
| Power / torque | 456 hp / 670 Nm |
| 0–100 km/h | 5.5 seconds |
| Claimed range (WLTP) | 625 km |
| Seating | 6 (captain seats in row two) |
India gets the EX90 only as a six-seater, with two individual captain's chairs in the middle row. That tells you who Volvo is targeting: chauffeur-driven owners and families who care more about the second row than squeezing in a seventh passenger. In this price band, that's usually the right call.
Inside, it follows the minimalist Volvo layout: a portrait-style central touchscreen running Google built-in, a slim driver display, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system. As you'd expect from Volvo, the safety kit is extensive, including a full suite of driver-assistance features.
At ₹1.26 crore, the EX90 undercuts the Kia EV9 (around ₹1.30 crore) and is well below the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 (around ₹1.49 crore). The Kia is the closest match on size and seating, while the Mercedes plays more on badge and luxury.
The catch is the gap to Volvo's own XC90. The EX90 costs roughly ₹27 lakh more, so buyers will be asking whether running costs and the electric drive experience justify that jump. For anyone who can charge at home, the savings on fuel add up quickly at this size of vehicle.
Volvo is sweetening early bookings. Customers who book before 31 December 2026 get the introductory price along with an 11 kW wall-box charger and a three-year service package. Customer test drives begin in November, and the first deliveries are due in January 2027.
If you're shopping in this segment, the introductory price is the thing to watch. Volvo hasn't said what the EX90 will cost once the offer window closes, and luxury brands in India rarely keep launch prices for long.
